Cambridge Real Estate Services, Inc. — Class Action Defense
Jim McDermott and Gabe Weaver represented Cambridge Real Estate Services, Inc. in a putative class action brought by tenants alleging that Cambridge’s utility billing practices violated the Oregon Residential Landlord Tenant Act.
The named plaintiffs originally sought more than $17 million in statutory damages. However, the trial court struck the named plaintiffs’ damages demand and ruled that, at most, the class could seek $5.4 million in damages. The matter recently settled for a fraction of the plaintiffs’ demand.
